A 1980's doll was developed and even prototyped. The prototype was sold at the employee sale a year or two ago. They chose not to release the doll.
I got a PM about the new AG items that said there would possibly be a new Historical girl named Rebecca, but "AG has scrap ped dolls in the past." Does anyone know who these mystery girls were?

I wonder if they might reconsider the 1980s doll for the 25th anniversary and make her a 1986 girl?
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">What a HUGE disappointment. I've been hoping they'd make an 80s doll *so* much. I guess it just means they ruled out making THAT girl, right? They could still decide to make a different 80s girl in the future, with a different story.A 1980's doll was developed and even prototyped. Do you know what she looked like? Bet she was blonde, lol.
How come the doll never comes up on ebay or something? I'd think she'd go for a lot of money, given she's an actual AG, but is obviously very rare.
MissMooMoo, are you a secret AG double agent?!
If you are, please tell the powers that be that Molly NEEDS her brown hooded winter jacket and green knit cap. She's been around 20 long years of Illinois winters, she's freezing her bum off!
A 1980's doll? I can picture it now:
Meet Madge: An American Girl
Your Madge DOLL has bright rainbow hair you can style into a side ponytail with a fuzzy PONYTAIL HOLDER. She comes with an off-shoulder pink SWEATER, spandex TIGHTS, striped LEGWARMERS, and glittery platform SHOES.
OK, wouldn't have been that bad. A 1980s doll would have been kind of cool. I always thought a 60s girl would be cool too. Oo! We need more historicals.
Thanks for the info!
Her accessories would include: Tube of stiff hair gel, big pack of bubblegum, gummy bracelets, and blue eyeshadow.
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">LOL... How funny. I don't love Eighties fashion, but I was born early in that decade and it would be fun to have a historical who's somewhat close to my age. Originally posted by kitswift22007:

I'm sure AG will release an Eighties doll someday, but probably way into the future. Molly--our most "recent" historical--was released forty years after her time, so maybe AG is currently concentrating on historical characters who lived in the Sixties or before that.
However, I can imagine getting an Eighties doll for my future kids and saying, "This is a girl back from MY day!" And then they'll say, "Wow, Mom, you're so old!!"

And in her book, she would be talking Valley Girl. "Like, gag me with a spoon!" lol
